Description protective relays (either electronic or electro-mechanical) to provide trip capability for as many as four circuit breakers. Using the information from the protective relays, the PRIM can simultaneously trip the four circuit breakers should a fault be detected. In addition, the PRIM’s electronic logic activates one of four front mounted LEDs to provide visual indication of the specific protective relay that first initiated the trip operation. This LED remains "ON" until such time that the fault has been cleared from the input device and a reset command is provided.
The PRIM is an automatic monitoring and control device that accepts inputs from up to four against false trigger signals due to accidental shorting or opening of an input contact. This circuitry requires that each of the external protective devices must have two changes of state prior to allowing a trip signal. In other words, the device must detect a complete change of state on both input contacts, i.e., the Normal Open (N/O) contact must change to Normal Close (N/C) and the Normal Close (N/C) contact must change to Normal Open (N/O).
An intelligent electronic device, the PRIM is equipped with logic circuitry that protects
LEDs replace up to four target relays.
Ordering Information
Model #
The Protective Relay Indicator Module provides simultaneous tripping of up to four circuit breakers, controlled by any one of up to four protective relay outputs. It also provides a visual indication (via LEDs D1-D4) of which relay initiated the trip operation. For example, if a sud- den pressure auxiliary relay output connected to input #2 of the PRIM were activated, the module would transfer the trip signal (through the field test switch) to the trip input of the Series 24 Electric Reset Lock-Out Relay. This causes the LOR to index to the trip position. The normally open contacts of the LOR will close, transferring TRIP signals (through the field test switch) to the circuit breaker coils. The PRIM will also turn on LED D2, indicating that relay #2 initiated the trip operation. The LOR can be manually reset, or reset electrically through a momentary closure of S2. The Series 24 manual switch is used as an ON/Off switch for power to the module. Protective Relay Indicator Module
